The Idiot Proof Valentine’s Day Card
Everybody gets so fancy when it comes to Valentine’s Day and to be honest, I think it stresses out both kids and adults. Here is an easy Valentine’s Day little something that most everyone can make.
Materials:
Two pieces of different colored paper
A pencil, pen or marker
Glue
Scissors
Fold one piece of paper the long way (the “hot dog” way).
On the spine of that piece of paper, draw half of a heart demonstrated in the photo below.
Then cut it out.
That is your first heart.
Fold the second piece, which is a different color piece of paper the short way (the “hamburger” way).
On the spine of that piece of paper draw half of a heart.
Then cut it out.
That is your second heart.
Now you have two hearts that are different sizes and colors. You can sandwich the two of them together to make a two-layered Valentine’s Day card. Write a little note on the inside and presto! An original creation that was easier to make than you thought!
Variations:
Here are some other options:
Fold the paper the long way. Instead of making one big heart, make a few little outlines like I did in the image below.
You can also draw an outline of a larger half heart around all of the smaller hearts like I did in the photo below.
Now cut them all out.
You should have a few little hearts to glue where you like and one big heart with a bunch of hearts cut out of it. Pretty fancy, right?
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Hi, Otis!
Happy Valentine’s Day to one of my all-time favorite people. (That would be you.)
I’ve been meaning to ask you to add me to your Illegal Art email list, too, for those moments when the classroom walls bend backward a bit.
All my best to you and Carlin,
Susan
