i knOw A LoT of Adults wHo gEt confUsed as to wHat To  capitAlize. Here aRe the basics to help explain it your kid:

1. Someone’s name or their title, when used before their name:

Otis

President Obama

Doctor Herdez

2. The name of a group of organization:

San Francisco Giants

The New York Times

The United Way

Stanford University

United States Congress

3. At the beginning of a sentence:

The ball floated down the river.

4. At the beginning of a quotation:

When he walked by her he said, “Did you do you homework?”

5. DO NOT CAPILTAIZE THE SEASONS!

6. Do not capitalize the word when referring to a type of organization or title without a name:

I think you need to go to the doctor.

I think the senator is heading home.
