Are You Over-Planning Your Child’s Life?

My friend and fellow educator Andra sent me this short article last week written by parent specialist Tom Hodgkinson. I think it’s good food for thought. Are kid’s lives over-planned? Is there not enough down time in their lives for them to pick flowers or go for a walk with you?

I think it’s worth a quick read.

He also has a blog/website called The Idler.

Great article applies not only to kids but everyone in this overscheduled, out of control world we live in.

As a psychotherapist, I find in my practice that pushing children to do more is not necessarily unseful. We all need time to dream, reflect and be quiet. This nourishes and feeds our more creative side.
Our culure does not respect this introverted cntemplative way of being that we all need .
