		<description>This is a great question. You don&#039;t need to be an Olympic athlete to encourage your child to be physically active. Simple walks around the neighborhood, throwing a ball or frisbee back and forth, stretching and/or doing some Yoga together - these are all ways in which you can encourage your child to become more physically active without running a 4 minute mile.

In terms of swimming, I have read a bunch of different articles about this topic. The most important issue to get kids over their fear of the water is to start by helping them get used to have their face wet. This can start in the bathtub, or by playing around the shallow end of a pool or on the shore of a beach.  As they become more used to &quot;playing&quot; in the water and accustomed to holding their breath a little here and there, they fear that they felt before should subside little by little.
