They Can’t Say Their Phone Ran Out Of Juice

Your kid says they tried to call but their phone ran out of power and they blank when you mention pay phones (whatever).  And you were sitting at home chewing all of your nails off while they were kicking it, spending their allowance money on ice cream because they thought you’d be cool with it.  Uh.  Don’t think so.  Here are some solutions.  1.  Teach them how to make a collect call.  2.  Get them a solar charger. I just got one and it’s fantastic.  I leave it in the sun to charge up and then plug my phone or I-pod into it and let it do its thing.  No wall outlets or charger cords and it can fit in a school bag, a purse or even in the pocket of some oversized jeans. And the best thing about it – it’s “green” and I use it as a teaching tool about the merits of solar power.  It’s a little pricey, but after a month, I’m sure it has already paid for itself, not only in power bills, but also in convenience.
