Q: “My kid refuses to do homework at her desk! What do I do?”

A:

This is a great question, Ben. Trust me. You’re not alone. I speak with parents all of the time who struggle with where and how to get their kids to do their homework. My first question to you would be:

“Why do they have to use their desk all of the time?”

I know when I come home I like to read on the couch or my favorite chair, write sitting at the kitchen table, so why not let your kid work where they feel most comfortable? Also, let them work in a place that is NEAR YOU. Kids generally like to be near their parents at the end of a day away from them, so take some time to be in close proximity to them, even if you are cooking, reading, doing the laundry.

I list a bunch of tips on The K5 Video, “Where Is The Best Place To Do Homework”, which I think would be helpful to watch as well.
